Football players from Richard Winn Academy and Fairfield Central High School kicked off their football season at the Midlands Honda Football Classic event with a pregame meal hosted by St. Mark Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, creating a "One Fairfield" atmosphere.
The goal of the event was to embrace diversity, according to Reverend Myrtis White, a volunteer from St. Mark Baptist Church. Additionally, both churches collaborated with Gideons International to pass out life books to all of the students, according to Pastor Craig Bailey from First Baptist Church. Reverend White and Pastor Bailey both credit Mr. Frank Knapp, Ms. Beatrice King--a member of Richland One School District, and Dr. J.R. Green on bringing the event together. In her absence, Ms. King expressed, "I am thinking of you all and this will be a fabulous first!"
