Rotary 5K Walk and Run

Rotary 5K Walk and Run

Story by: Trenell BoydStudent Journalist

On September 19, 2019, the Rotary Club sponsored its 5K Walk and Run. Along with my teammates, I participated as a runner. This was my second year being a part of this event and I have enjoyed myself both times! My Cross Country coach even participated, running with his one-year-old son in a stroller.

There were many people from the Winnsboro community that came in support, whether they were on the sidelines cheering or walking or running in the race.

There was a professional masseuse on site to assist when needed. DJ Big Worm provided the music, as the community enjoyed dancing and good times! I tried to take it a bit easy, though, because I had a Cross Country meet to be ready for on Saturday.

After the race, we all congratulating one another and some were handing out water to quench the thirst of the runners. When everyone finished, we gathered around to receive our awards.

I think this is a great event and I hope that I am able to be a part of it for years to come!
