Go Red! Fairfield

Story by: Jamara GreenStudent Journalist

Fairfield County is making major strides to educate the public about the effects of heart disease. On Friday, February 22nd, active community member Tonya Green held an informative Red Heart luncheon with the support of Providence Health Hospital. The Going Red in Fairfield Luncheon was held at the Fairfield County School District Auditorium. Many community members, hospital representatives, and Fairfield County students attended the luncheon to learn about the effects of the number one killer among women. Katherine Ramsey, American Heart Association Representative, informed the audience of women in red how common heart health affects women.

Julie Rieger, an Exercise Specialist, recognized some of the causes of heart disease. She emphasized the stress that women experience when trying to cater to others. She encouraged the mothers in the room to take a break from their daily routine and ensure that their hearts are in a healthy condition.

Guest speaker Dr. Norma M. Khoury provided information on what women should do to prevent major heart diseases. Many women expressed their gratitude for the informative event.

Mrs. Green thanked everyone for attending and expressed her wishes to continue informing the community about the effects of heart disease.
