Annual Jenni Sharpe 5K

On Saturday, March 23, the third annual Jenni Sharpe Memorial 5K took place in downtown Winnsboro. Registration for the event began at 8 a.m. Announcements in memory of Jenni took place at 8:45, and runners and walkers started the trek at 9. The Jenni Sharpe Memorial 5K was launched after the passing of Jenni Sharpe, late wife of Mr. J. Ryan Sharpe, a teacher and coach of eleven years at Fairfield Central High School. After her passing, he was inspired to keep her memory alive while also giving to the community. All proceeds from the event are used to award scholarships to graduating seniors at Fairfield Central High School and Richard Winn Academy. In two years, the Jenni Sharpe Memorial has provided a total of $12,000 in scholarships to high school seniors from Fairfield County.
