The Intergovernmental Council meeting was held Tuesday, March 26th, and was hosted by the Ridgeway Town Council. There were updates from the Fairfield County Government, Town of Winnsboro, Town of Ridgeway, Fairfield County Schools, and Senator Mike Fanning. The Fairfield County staff gave a presentation on the upgrades to the mega site. The State of South Carolina has provided considerable resources, $10 million, to the purchase and upgrading of the mega site. The estimated investment in the mega site is projected to be between $150-$200 million dollars. The overwhelming majority of these funds will be provided by the state of South Carolina.

Senator Fanning indicated that there have been 19 offers to purchase Santee Cooper, which is now a government-owned entity. Additionally, Senator Fanning indicated that the state has an additional $1.1 Billion in additional revenue this year. Senator Fanning and House of Representative Annie McDaniel, are currently soliciting interviews for five Magistrate Judge positions. They have received 27 completed applications. A committee of individuals that reside outside of the county will conduct interviews and make recommendations to the delegation.
