FCHS Pageant Winners 2019

Bon Vayage!

On Saturday, March 30th, Fairfield Central High School (FCHS) hosted its annual pageant. The theme for the pageant was “Bon Voyage - An Evening At Sea.” This year, the pageant committee made history with a special twist, 12th grade gentlemen competed for the title of Mr. Griffin and Mr. Black and Gold. Eighteen students competed for the following titles: Mr. Popular, Mr. Spirit, Miss Congeniality, Miss Black & Gold, Mr. Black & Gold, Miss Freshman, Miss Sophomore, Miss Junior, Mr. Swagg, Miss Fairfield Central, and Mr. Griffin. All eighteen contestants had to commit to attending rehearsals after school that lasted for at least 2 hours, buying outfits, and selling ads for the souvenir booklet.

Freshman contestants that competed were Ariana Goodwin and Trinity Proctor. Trinity Proctor was crowned Miss. Freshman. Abigail Hutson-Smith and Christina Boyd competed for the Miss Sophomore in the pageant. Abigail was crowned Miss Sophomore. Trenell Boyd, JaNiya Coleman, Tyonna Foster, Martha Gibson, and Hannah Rutland all competed for the title of Miss Junior. JaNiya Coleman was crowned Miss Junior, and Tyonna Foster was named Miss Congeniality. Senior female contestants included Adriana Ashford, Jamara Green, LaKeitha Johnson, Zenia Mobley, Ariel Watson, Sy’Mez Crim, Darius Free, Bryant Seibles and Tobias Walker. Darius Free was selected for the title Mr. Swagg and was also crowned as Mr. Griffin. Finally, Zenia Mobley was crowned Miss Fairfield Central. The titles of Mr. and Miss Black and Gold were awarded to the male and female that sold the most ads for the souvenir booklet. Those winners were Bryant Seibles and JaNiya Coleman respectively. Sy’Mez Crim was voted Mr. Popular by the audience.

After interviewing the winners, some of their responses were “I was excited to win. My heart was racing as they called for the title I wanted to win”, “It feels great. I put my all into preparing. I’m just happy all of my hard work paid off. Staying up to 4 a.m. and waking up 6 a.m. really showed how much I wanted this title”, and “It was hard work, and I knew that if I kept striving for excellence, I would win.”

Entertainment was provided by students from FCHS. RCM, a musical trio consisted of senior, Roman Gratic, and brother and sister duo, freshman: Cialen Gadson and sophomore: Marteyia Gadson. Kelly Sanders and Thometica Jones, both members of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, performed as well.

Mrs. Swilley, Principal exclaimed “We have a great staff that were committed to presenting a night of elegance under the leadership of Mrs. Kennedy-Baker. Now you can truly see why I love being the principal of Fairfield Central High School. Our kids have unbelievable talents and they are amazing”. Mrs. Kennedy-Baker, Dean of Students, stated “This was my first time leading the pageant, so this has been an experience for me. I want to thank all the parents for your support and allowing your child to participate. I thank you all for attending the pageant. My favorite portion was the evening wear as the students personalities really showed. I’m so pleased, and I hope you enjoyed it.” Fairfield Central and Fairfield County are truly filled with talent.Our pageant gave an opportunity for our talents to shine for all to see. We congratulate all winners and thank all of the contestants on a job well done.
