Congratulations, Junior Honor Society Inductees!

   Fairfield Magnet School for Math and Science inducted 20 sixth-grade students into their National Junior Honor Society. The minimum grade average required to be a member is 85. The National Junior Honor Society is an international student organization consisting of chapters in the United States, other U.S. territories, and worldwide. The officers representing Fairfield Magnet School for Math and Science were selected based on their grade point average. They explained the framework of this organization to members inducted into the honor society, which are service, leadership, character, and citizenship. The National Junior Honor Society officers representing Fairfield Magnet School for Math and Science are Ahmed El Bayoumi, President; Kaylee Summers, Vice-President; Tyreke Mills, Secretary; Matthew Evans, Treasurer; and Savior Belton, Historian. 

  During the ceremony, each officer explained the meaning of one of the qualities that make up the organization's framework: Service involves voluntary contributions made by a student and done without compensation. FMSMS chapters requires evidence of service to the school, the community, or both. We set the requirements for this criterion. Leadership are resourceful student leaders, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others. Our chapter require evidence of leadership from within the school, community, or both. Character shows the student's good character, cooperativeness, high standards of honesty and reliability, courtesy, concern, and respect for others. Citizenship means the student understands the importance of civic engagement, highly regards freedom and justice, and respects democracy.
