Fairfield Education Foundation Celebrates Ribbon
Cutting for New Homes in Teacher Community
On Thursday, October 3rd, The Fairfield Education Foundation marked a significant milestone with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for nine newly constructed homes in the Village for Fairfield County School District educators. The event took place at the TruVista Technology Center, with key stakeholders and community members in attendance.
Saundra Ross Johnson, Chair of the Fairfield County Education Foundation, expressed gratitude to all involved in bringing this vision to fruition.
"This initiative underscores our commitment to supporting educators and fostering a thriving community," said Johnson.
Additional quotes retrieved from WLTX News 19 are as follows:
Dr. Sue Rex: “We believe that this is the true answer to being able to provide the support that teachers really need to stay in the classroom.”
Ms. Veronica Thomas: “Columbia traffic is no joke. The fact that I do not have to deal with that every morning means I am in a good mood when I get to my office."
Dr. JR Green: “It means so much more when a young person can see his teacher in the grocery store, when a young person can see his teacher in CVS. They [teachers] become a part of the broader community, and that is great for the entire system.”
The expansion of the Village addresses critical housing needs and aims to attract and retain top-tier educators in the region. Plans for a future park are also underway, further enriching the community's amenities.
